How a Mavi Installation Runs
Most installation problems are scheduling and coordination problems, not craft problems. Here is how we keep them off your critical path.
1. Takeoff and scope review. Send us the drawings, the spec section, or a room list. We produce a takeoff and a scope matrix so everyone agrees on quantities, mounting types, and finishes before a single item is ordered.
2. Field measurement. For retrofits and replacements, we measure the existing openings on site. Older buildings rarely match nominal dimensions, and a stall that arrives 1/2″ too wide means a second lead time and a missed turnover date.
3. Submittals and approvals. We provide product data, shop drawings, and samples for architect approval. If the spec names a basis of design and you want an “or equal” substitution, we handle that approval package rather than leaving it to you.
4. Blocking and rough-in coordination. Recessed accessories, grab bars, and floor-to-ceiling pilasters all need in-wall blocking or structural support set before the walls close. We flag those requirements early — this is the single most common source of RFIs in Division 10 and the easiest one to avoid.
5. Delivery and staging. We coordinate freight elevator windows, loading dock access, and on-floor staging with building management or the GC. In occupied buildings we work nights and weekends when required.
6. Installation and testing. Crews assemble, mount, plumb, and shim to manufacturer specification, then cycle every door, latch, and dispenser before leaving the room.
7. Punch list and closeout. We walk the job with you, correct punch items, and deliver O&M manuals and warranty documentation.
Union, Prevailing Wage, and Non-Union Crews
Not every job carries the same labor requirement, and using the wrong crew type can stop a project cold. We staff all three:
- Union crews for projects with a project labor agreement or building-specific labor requirements — common in Manhattan commercial towers and institutional work.
- Prevailing wage crews for publicly funded work, with certified payroll reporting.
- Non-union crews for private commercial and hospitality projects where the schedule and budget drive the decision.
We are NYC SCA approved, so School Construction Authority projects can move without a vendor qualification delay.
New construction. We work from the spec section and coordinate with the GC’s schedule, sequencing after tile and before final trim so nothing gets damaged twice.
Renovation and retrofit. Existing conditions drive everything: anchor locations, floor pitch, wall composition, and whether the old pilaster shoes left holes that need to be covered or patched. We identify these at the field measure, not on install day.
Site Conditions We Plan Around
- Occupied buildings. Phased work, one restroom or corridor at a time, with temporary signage and daily cleanup so the space stays usable.
- Schools. Summer windows are short and fixed. We schedule material to land early so install isn’t waiting on a truck in mid-August.
- Healthcare. Infection-control protocols, ICRA containment where required, and cubicle track work coordinated around patient areas.
- Hotels. Floor-by-floor sequencing tied to the renovation schedule, with finish protection in guest corridors.
- Manhattan logistics. Street loading permits, freight elevator scheduling, after-hours certificates of insurance, and building-specific COI requirements handled in advance.
Service Area
We install throughout the New York Metropolitan Area, New Jersey, and Connecticut — including all five boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, northern and central New Jersey, and Fairfield and New Haven counties. We supply material beyond this region; installation crews are regional.
What to Send Us for an Installation Quote
You do not need a complete bid set. Any of these gets us started:
- Architectural drawings and the Division 10 spec section (10 21 13, 10 28 00, 10 51 00, 10 26 00, 10 11 00, 10 21 23), or
- A room-by-room list with quantities, or
- Photos of the existing conditions plus rough dimensions, and
- Your target install window and the labor requirement (union, prevailing wage, or open shop)
We will come back with a takeoff and a quote.
